Greening of Grand Avenue
The Greening of Grand is an ongoing project encouraging our business
colleagues along Grand Avenue to adopt sustainable practices. Through
our own sustainable practices, Headwaters is saving money and protecting
the environment. This winning combination is good for us and good
for our colleagues. This fall Headwaters will sponsor a fundraiser
for energy advocates Fresh Energy and the Will Steger Foundation
to showcase Grand Avenue businesses’ efforts to stop global
warming. Here is a sample from our sustainability plan. These are
suggestions you can live by too:
- Recycle all paper, plastic and aluminum waste products.
- Off-set carbon footprint by purchasing carbon credits.
- Unplug all appliances that are not being used.
- Walk, bike, or take public transportation to work.
- Use weather-strips on the doors to keep in heat.
- Clean air conditioner coils and fan blades each year; change
air conditioner filter one to three times during the cooling
season.
- Use office supplies containing recycled and post-consumer
materials.
- Use Energy Star® certified fluorescent light bulbs throughout
building.
